Pedal switches
I have a problem I am working on,and looking for some input/help

My cruise isnt working,so I was checking all the pedal switches, when I came across the following issue...

I have a B14 that will start without pushing the clutch in.
I thought the switch was bypassed(like I do to all my cars)...but It is there, and the switch tests good, and makes proper contact with the pedal, etc, etc.

So does anybody know how this is possible?? What else could be bypassed, and where that would take the switch out of the loop like this??

EDIT...I found the clutch start switch bypassed at the relay under the hood

There are 2 switches, one for the cruise and one to start the car. The cruise switch opens as soon as the pedal is pressed in. The start switch only activates when the pedal is pressed in all the way.

Thanks,I realize that. Both switches tested fine with a meter.
The one that starts the car can be totally disconnected, and the car will start without the clutch in.....usuaully,you would have to put a jumper on the plug to get the car to start oif unplugged.
Hope that clears it up some.

Currently all switches on the pedals are making proper contact, and tested out good with a multimeter,so the cruise issue must be somewhere else.
I have checked the vacuum line under the hood and then the switches on the pedal.
I replaced the switches on the steering wheel because the set button didnt feel right,if you know what I mean.
I am gonna swap the whole wheel for a nicer one soon,so will check the clockspring for damage when I do.
Otherwise,I dont know what else to check at this point.
The cruise light lights up on the switch but not on the cluster.
I have a CEL on for VSS but the speedo works and tach, but not the odo,so I wouldnt think it would affect the cruise.Maybe it does.

I'm not sure how the VSS works on electronic speedo cars, but it sounds like the ECU and ASCD module are not getting speed signal.

You have an FSM? I think there may be a diagnostic light on the ACSD module that you can check for codes.

Definitely odd that the starter interlock isn't working, though it doesn't affect cruise operation on a B13, as I have mine bypassed, and the cruise works fine.

Just noticed this. I'd home in on that.

Chris, your right it doesnt affect cruise, because my B13 cruiuse works and it is bypassed too, lol.
I found the clutch start switch bypassed at the relay under the hood
That explains that.

I guess I will change the VSS next and see if it makes the cruise work.
I am shocked that the speedo and tach still work if the VSS is bad....who knows...maybe its the cluster...I could not find anything obvious behind the cluster.
