Thread: Quick question ?

My crank pulley broke I replaced it and installed it The car worked after but was a lil wierd I drove home and the dash lights dimmed and the car turned off and wont turn back on is it the alternator ? I try to turn it on and it goes a little but dies off

try swaping out the battery and then remove the negative cable to check if it keeps running with just the alt

Is your belt tight for the alternator?

also check the alternator fuse next to the battery on a b13

I know this is somewhat of a popular method, but you risk frying some expensive electronics (the ECU) doing this.. the chance is small but there..

As for the OP's question it sounds like he put the wrong belt on or reused the stock one (assuming he purchased an underdrive pulley)

Yes my old b13 got mest up that way and yes I did re use the old one is thar bad?

If you just replaced it with another stock crank pulley it will probably be OK, but if I was going thru the trouble of doing all of that I'd spring for a new belt, they are usually like $15

When the car ran it made a loud noise from the belts not a squeaky noise a wierd noise but I got a mechanic to see what he says
