Thread: Transmission making a whine noise?

I have the transmission taken apart and just put a new 1-4 gear stack and its making this weird whining noise kind of similar to that of going into reverse... It started doing it after I removed the axle... Any clue on what it could possibly be?

I mean when I physically turn the gears, its making a whine noise. I have the transmission split open right now.

the gears are spaced as they would be when the case is together, but it could be the bearings are bad, or did you mix gear sets with other ones?

I mixed but the thing is it was fine until all the prying on the axle lol maybe its the lsd.... I have a spare one so hopefully its something simple...

certain ratio pinion rings go with specific main shafts... you cant switch with out with others unless the ratios are the same.

or it could just be the large bearing that the diff assy uses is bad.

I figured out what it was... The 1-4 gear stack sits on the diff but when I lift it up it no longer does it... Should be fine with both axles installed

I think eggman has a trans wining problem. id ask him
