Opening catch can?
So pretty simple question, how the heck do you open the stock oil catch can? Is there even a way? Just got one to install but I wana clean it out first

No way to open it without ruining it.

So how do you clean it? Furthermore I was curious to how it catches the oil exactly? On most (aftermarket at least) i notice the to entries are at the top and the oil catches in the bottom, then you can just dump it out or whatever. But on this one theres entry on top (valve cover) and bottom (for crank) so how exactly does the oil catch?

It catches the oil from the ventilation before going to the Intake, then the oil condenses and flows down into the oil pan.

You can spray it out with degreaser but make sure it is completely dry before re-installing.

I see, so theres like a narrow passage or so for the air to slide by and the oil to get trapped then let it condense and roll through? So it actually nothing ever needs "changed" or "drained?

It is pretty well explained here: http://www.sr20-forum.com/information-library/34413-crank-case-ventilation-fully-explained-naturally-aspirated-edition.html

It is a self-draining system, yes.

I cut mine open a few years ago just to see what is inside. It's just metal plate with a 1/2inch or so sized square cut in it. It had been on the car for 140k miles or so with no build up at all. It's just surface for vapor to condense on, and roll through.

Ok, I thought so, I was just curious. I'll slosh some degreaser in there too clean it up a little bit then let it dry while I paint it since all the original paint flaked off and get it on this weekend. Stay tuned for picture

Got it all painted, but i can't find screws the right size to screw it on. Anyone know what size screw would work? I went through my drawer of misc screws but nothing worked

It's not attached with screws, it's attached with bolts..

Short M8 bolt
