need an electronic speed sensor from an sr trans
not sure if the b14 one works.....rockauto sells the one you need for like $40
the thread for that is prolly in the manifesto now that i think about it

I will keep it simple.

You will need an NX2000 Digital Speed Sensor. Like this one if you have a manual transmission car and cluster
Duralast/Vehicle Speed Sensor (SU4055) | 1992 Nissan/Datsun NX 4 Cylinders G 2.0L SFI DOHC | AutoZone.com

RockAuto also has the same one cheaper but I bought mine from AutoZone since I wasnt aware RockAuto had the same one cheaper at the time.

The B14 one does not work. I tried it and it showed half speed. The Nissan NX speed sensors sent out twice as many pulses as the B14 one.

Here is some info on everything thanks to M0J0 on the forums:

Lol, no.

Lol, yes. Mostly.

As long as you keep in mind that you have to use the sensor of the 1991/1992 models of the NX. After that, they're the same as the Sentra sensors. Interestingly enough, the 1991/1992 NX sensors that are sold are electric, even though they were actually cable-driven at that time.

Yes, you can use the sensor that came from the same car as the cluster came from, but if the original car was an automatic, you can only use the sensor in an automatic. This is the ONLY part that has anything to do with the difference in manual/automatic transmission, and GA16 and SR20 gearboxes.

It doesn't matter whether you put a cluster that originally came from an automatic into a car with a manual transmission, or vice versa.

The only thing that is REALLY different is the fact that there's an extra indicator for the O/D Off that's only useful when you use it in an automatic (but who does that anyways), and if you put a cluster without that indicator in an automatic, you can easily use any of the other unused indicators for that function by choosing the appropriate pin on the plug (I've done this for the ABS-check light, which my cluster doesn't have (FSM says that there should be some clusters with the indicator for that function, but I've never seen any)).

But yeah, you can easily put any cluster in any car. The cluster isn't the factor that decides what sensor you need, it's what type of transmission you use.

hummm very interesting ...im still in the process of puting my red top back togather so i havent really got a chence to take a good look at the tranny but im 100% sure my 92 b13 is cable speedo..would i make my own harness to the cluster ?? o_O

You need to re-pin the harness you have now, and create 2 extra wires to connect to the new speed sensor. It's just a matter of doing the center plug on the digicluster first, and then work your way around the other plugs.

So all in all, how difficult is it to do this? I wanna put a nx cluster in my 92 sentra, but i was told its very difficult
