piston to valve clearance
hey i was wonder how could i determine/check for piston to valve clearance on a de block with a ve head. im planning to run 8:5:1 pistons with no valve relief grooves in them and will like to check p2v clearance. ive heard about claying but really cant find anything on it

I am surprised you went with a Ve head Jc, Why didn't you just keep it simple and stick it out with a tested tried and true (De) head with some minor head work?

You can't use clay with hydraulic lifters. Use the ol' drop valve method.
