Motor oil
So, I'm building a VE+T with all new parts, re-bored the cilinders, and the thing is very clean now.

What kind of motor oil do you suggest I use? I've read something about using organic oils for break in?

Or could I just chuck in some synthetic oil?

And either way, any recommended brands and thickness?

I used Valvoline 5w30 conventional on the breakin, then after the heat cycles were done i put in the mobile 1 15w50 and did a compression check and all was good.

I use castrol syntec 10w-30 and 3/4qt lucas in my ve, I get it tested at blackstone and even with 9000 miles on it it still has plenty of lubricating additive and good viscosity. I use a nissan oem filter. I originally used straight syntec but at 5000 miles it lost its viscosity. Mind you I drive almost all highway, im an aggressive driver and I put 80,000 miles a year on my car.

I am going to be breaking a new motor in too soon and talked with my machinist. He said use any conventional oil with ZDDP additive. ZDDPlus™ - ZDDP for Classic, Muscle Cars & More

He said use 1/2 bottle during break in and change the oil after the first 100 miles /w the other 1/2 bottle, then change again at 500. He said to use this additive or some oil with zinc in it to prevent engine wear. The older oils came with more zinc which help the non bearing surfaces wear less, ie cams. Make sure the oil you are using has 1500ppm of zinc in it.

There is another thread i found recently on break in and a lot of the "race" oils had zinc in that range.

Mazworx uses vr1 and royal purple break in fluid. I use vr1 in my ve-t now but the motor is fully broken in.

There's a lot of answers from North America. I'd look for some European data if I were you.
