Turning crank, who's done it while making 400+?
Just curious how ya'll feel about using a crank that has spun a bearing for a turbo build. Personally, I don't see a problem as long as its balanced well. Any input?

Have the journals polished and just measure for new bearings. Thats what i am doing but the crank on mine was not scared from the spin. If its too chewed up i would just find a new one, pretty cheap and easy to find.

You should also measure the journal diameter at two positions, 90 degrees apart, to be sure it is round.

My personal opinion is why spend money on having the crank turned when you can get a used low mileage jdm crank for basicly nothing. Alot less than what you would spend to have one turned and you dont have to worry about it. Its not the problem of balancing its the problem of having someone that really knows what they are doing with them and can get the journals perfectly round and matched to the proper bearings.

I would say dont waste your time or money and just pick up a used crank from the forum.

i am usually afraid of using spun bearing cranks even after machining, more recently i am afraid of using spun bearing blocks and oil pumps, i notice that they later almost always lead to distruction again from foreign objects being some how introduced into the oil galleys, alot of times even after a machine shop cleaning
