Junkyard crankshaft pulley removal
I want to swap out a UR pulley off my old 91 SE-R to my current B13, so I need a crankshaft pulley as a replacement.
There are a couple 91 to 94 auto tranny G20's in the junkyard so I have a couple questions.

What's the easiest way to get the nut off the crankshaft pulley, in the junkyard, since I can't use an impact wrench or crank the motor(to let a breaker bar tap the ground) to loosen the nut?

I've read threads about rags stuffed in the pulley belts and removing the tranny to get at the flywheel(not sure about auto trannys). Any other good "tricks"?

Any reason why an auto tranny 91 or 94 G20 crankshaft pulley wouldn't be an exact replacement on my 91 SE-R?

Do you have access to an cordless impact at all?

I did this a few months ago.
I tried screwdrivers in the rotor veins wedged against the calipers, but this resulted in two bent screwdrivers. I eventually ended up popping the VC and putting a screwdriver through the cam shaft sprocket. Worked like a champ.

I had to do it in the pouring rain, this is the shelter I made before it got really bad. The poor P10 donated the back seat cushion, and the Tercel gave it's hood. Before I was done there was a mini river running under and around the seat bottom.
Don't forget your steering wheel puller.

Cordless Impact wrench. There may be someone in the yard that has one and you can ask them to borrow or pull it for you. You would be surprised how friendly some of those guys are.

Other then that, there's what was mentioned above.

Take the valve cover off, and put a long screw driver in one of the camshaft gear holes. Turn the crank pulley until the screw driver hits the top of the head and doesn't allow you to go anymore, now you have enough tension that the motor will not turn anymore by hand. Grab a breaker bar or extend your wrench with a pole and unscrew the crank pulley.

you guys are over thinking this...

bring some linesman pliers, cut the throttle cable.

Feed the throttle cable down into a spark plug hole and crank the motor around until it stops turning.

Voila

Plug wires, rope, those work good as well.

I've been doing that for years and never bent one. It's the quickest way to lock up the drivetrain.

Bigger screwdriver?

I normally just use a breaker bar with a long ass pipe at the end to turn the bolt for the pulley and jam up the flywheel with a CRAFTSMAN screwdriver.

Thanks everyone. I don't have access to a cordless impact wrench. I never borrow tools since I hate to loan them.

I'm going to try blocking the rotor vanes first. I usually do this when removing junkyard wheels. I just find a couple large headed bolts laying on the ground to shove into the rotor vanes.

I really like the idea of shoving the throttle cable into a spark plug hole. Quick and simple. I won't ruin a G20 throttle cable though. Some Kia can make the sacrifice.

If those two methods don't work, then you guys have given me plenty of backup ideas.

Since no one mentioned any difference between pulleys for P10 auto tranny vs a manual B13, I just going to figure a SR20DE crank pulley is an SR20DE crank pulley.
