Well. I've removed 3 crankshaft pulleys this week from 3 different SR20DE's.
Like I posted above, the first one was at the junk yard. I stuck some bolts through the cam gears, and that works great, but is not the easiest way.
The other 2 were at home.
On one I had to use the impact wrench but when I looked at the bolt, after it was removed, the threads were messed up. I think someone just installed it with a heavy duty impact wrench and over torqued it. The impact wrench is definitely the quickest/easiest removal method.
I was able to remove the crankshaft bolt on the third car by putting it in FIFTH gear and having someone press on the brakes HARD.
This works so nicely that it's the method I used to re-torque both my crankshaft pulley bolts (to 110 ft lbs).
Just sorry I didn't get a chance to try nsusammyeb's method of feeding a throttle cable down the spark plug hole at the junk yard.
