Fire extinguishers....
I had a buddy lose his ser to a electrical fire a few years back and it got me thinking. 1 fire in my car would cost me lots of money and I have now way to stop it.

So I'm in the market for a extinguisher. I want a compact one that isn't some sort of F&F one that mounts on the pilar. I want to mount it somewhere easy to access and somewhat hidden. Probably under my legs under the driver seat.

I just want something functional and not flashy because I know an extinguisher in a road car is just related to ricer status.

Any one?

Don't get a powder discharge type, look for a halon-type extinguisher. ABC or BC powder fire extinguishers leave powders that will corrode your electricals after a while.

if you got the cash to spend an entire fire suppresion system would be nice.....no poping the hood to light yourself on fire....seen bad stuff at an scca autocross years ago.....car gone and owner in ER.

this definatly gets me thinking

Yeah everyonce in awhile i smell something coming from a hot motor and it makes me think... If this thing decides to light up, There is nothing i can do but sit there and watch. That would be the absolute worse feeling EVER! So much time money and effort just burning right in fornt of your eyes!

God its scary just thinking about it.

As for the fire suppression system, I think that a little too much for my situation but yes it is still very fucking cool.

I have a marine (i think, its white) fire extinguisher under my passenger seat, I don't even know how old it is, I should probably look to see if it is even charged

That's a bad place to put it. If you're going to have a handheld, you want to be able to reach and deploy it from in your seat with the belts on. The track cat has it bolted to the exhaust tunnel on the passenger side, the street toy has it under the front edge of the passenger seat.

Im thinking of moving mine to the floor so its easy to reach. But personlay everone should have one in the car someware . Its a matter of the insurance company giving you a check for $1500 for what the car is worth or loosing the $5k+ you have invested in it !
