Thread: Where are the real budget builders?

That is my plan. I will be starting over clean, and it looks like it may be with a p11 soon. Found a deal on a clean p11 that just needs a harness(critters ate up part of the current harness) that is impossible to pass up. I'll know Friday if it is a go. I want to have some cheap fun with the 200 before I scrap it, whether it be turbo or just buying that zex 100 shot kit locally and having some fun that way.

Seems like lately ,you get more for your money by buying a built car and modifying it to your taste.
Sell/trade off some stuff and go from there.
If you go buy a cheap car and start modding,you are just running up the bill.
Been there,done that...still doing that.lol
If you gotta daily drive the car,or its your only vehicle,I would stay away from boost,but thats just me.
And,every mod you do for peformance takes a little away from comfort.
...stop the engine from flopping around...add vibration
...lower the car for handling...have to pee when you get where you are going,HAHA.

If we all step back and look at the reality of it, anybody modding a B-series or P-series, is considered "budget building" in the car world. Even at the extreme end of spending money in our world, it wouldn't even get you into the price of admission on most higher end performance marques. The little lady and I would spend as much as I have total in my Sentra as we would tracking the Porsche for a few weekends (maintenance, tires, broken shit). It's all relative.

With that said, I'm very happy messing around with my little Sentra and still putting money away for retirement, thank you very much

The reality of it is, you need to then consider ECU, injectors, fuel pump, etc. Boost brings you a lot of power, thus it needs more supporting mods. Now if you can manage to limit yourself with under 200whp boosted, you might be able to get away with OEM fuel pump and injectors.

Don't forget clutch/PP, oil feed, downpipe, etc.
It all adds up.

for me, the point of building is more than just throwing parts @ a car to make it faster/slower/corner or look better. its the joy/frustration/anger/surprise with the outcome. the unknown. the range of emotions are more enlightening/rewarding than the end product. take it for what it is... a lifes learning example. if you do it, do it for yourself, and no-one else.

This, plus the learning experience is awesome.

As we speak im planning a turbo build looking at a de+t build t28 Gtir manifold fmic 740ccInj im trying to keep it decently cheap but im planning it over the next year, so i can find deals in the mean time. But im not gonna buy cheap shit just to stay cheap i like quailty-reliable parts that way half my time isnt stuck re-doing my work
