Thread: how do you change ignition key cylinder?lost ignition keys

lost my car keys!!
I have a parts car with keys ..I want to switch out the cylinders but cant find the way to do it..I know you can start the car if you unplug the switch but the steering wheel stays locked...thanks in advance

You need to drop the steering column which will give you access to 2 shear bolts on the back ofthe switch. Get a hammer and small punch and tap at an angle anti clockwise until they turn their way out. this might take some time depending on how tight they are. You also have the option of removing and replacing the steering column and all locks with those from the parts car if you have them.
