Starting problem
Ok, so this is my problem.

I replaced my starter last may. I would like to think that it's not that. I try to start my car, it clicks once. I try again and I get nothing. I turn the key off and pull the key out of the ignition, and the warning lights stay on.

I cleaned the terminals, checked fuses. Have any of you guys had this problem? What could it be? I know that the starter going out doesn't do this.

It's a '93 SE-R 5-speed

any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Lance

sounds more like an ignition switch problem to me, might want to check that out. you can try jumping 12v to the starter solenoid to rull that out, its the single small wire, just disconnect it and use a jumper wire to test it. If that checks out good your probably looking at needing a new ignition.

I had a starting problem that acted like yours about 3 months ago on my 97 SE-R. After some head-scratching I finally figured out it was my clutch safety switch. Sometimes I wasn't pushing down the clutch pedal ALL the way, and so no power would ever get to the starter. I'm not sure if that's what's going on with your car but it's something to check and I hope it helps.

I can be pretty sure that it's not the clutch inhibitor switch, though the no clicking would suggest it, cuz of the problem with the warning lights staying on. that is what has me so puzzled. I'm gonna take my car into my work today and get it on a lift and jump the starter and see if that works. I'm pretty sure that it's something to do with the ignition since the lights stay on. the funny thing is that i can push start the car, it runs fine, and when i turn it off, the warning lights turn off like normal.

thanks for the ideas guys. Hopefully I'll have this figured out today.

it was a broken ground wire to the engine block.
