Need help guys was doing axle the other day and spilled about a cup or so of tranny fluid. When I went to go try to add some I noticed that the full plug is stripped I tried taking it out but it's not working I have new one to replace.
While you try to figure out how to get that thing out, you can fill the transmission through the vent hole, or the speed sensor hole (remove the speed sensor). You won't be able to check the level properly though.
To get that thing out, I would try to get a bolt head maybe to fit in there. Hammer it in if you have to. Put two nuts on the bolt to give yourself something to put a wrench on.
Shaping the hole into a hex shape with a chisel might help too. Chisels go right through aluminum pretty well.
Mine is so badly stuck that even welding new things onto it would not remove it. I've been using the speedo fill hole ever since. Just sit on even ground when you do so, and fill it almost to the top, if you over fill it will be all over the ground when you go to install the speedo sensor.
3 options:
1) A big enough easy-out bolt extractor - Will cost some $$
2) Weld some metal in there to get some wrenches on - You could crack your case if you get the plug too hot
3) Carefully drill a hole through the plug to fit a smaller bolt extractor on it - Can easily get metal shavings all in your case.
Honestly, I would try option 2 first before anything else....
I had this proble.
This is what I used to remove it.
SQUARE extractor.
Drill CAREFULLY,hammer it in and crank it out with a socket(shown).Drill size is on the extractor package,It is 3/8" as you can see in the first pic.
I got it at ACE hardware.
