do i dare ask..
is there anyway to salvage this block, or is it totaly done. the only thing keeping me from finishing my engine is a block.

I would say that is done. the tang for the bearing is cracked. It also looks like it needs a line hone.

if it were me id opt for a new block. is it a det or ve block ?

i dont think that can be fixed, and if it can teh price is prolly more then a bare block.

that is a gtir block. and yea, thats what i figured... what would be the best block to go with?, and is there a way to compensate for the 54c's use of 1/2 inch head bolts on a normal block? also, i just got a ve crank yesterday that id like to use if that makes a difference.

ditch the 54c man. i read your thread, im not sure why you seem so far a 54c, they are more trouble then they are worth.

i just really love that engine man. like when i first started working on my b13, thats the engine that ive been set on. im almost to the point on just getting a de short block from the junkyard for 180 bucks and then just throwing my head on. ive found a thread saying de head bolts can be used on a 54c head if alaighned correctly.

just take the block and have the holes drilled/tapped for the larger head studs.

why would you want to use a ve crank. I would use a stock de/det crank with the gtir rods and pistons.

i would just sell all the 54c stuff, grab a de and turbo it.

or grab a ve and turbo that.

its all in the tune.
