Thread: Coolant Flush

94 Sentra SER with Highport swap.

I am trying to refill my coolant but I dont have a bleeder valve on my heater hose. Both hoses are 1 peice.

I was thinking, my buddy with his SR20 RWD just jacks the front of the car up and fills with fluid then turns the car on with heat at full blast. He just waits for the bubbles and fills more until done. Can this be done with our FWD sr20?

That can be done, but you should also take care to bleed from the secondary bleed valve on the thermostat. You know?

ok, so i shouldnt worry as much about the rear bleeder since i dont have one or should I look to replace it with one?

You do have one. Unless you removed your thermostat housing...

No, I have that bleeder, I am refering to the one on the heater hose going to the firewall.

None of us have a bleeder on or near the heater core hoses. Just turn the heat all the way up when you bleed so the heater core gets flow and you should be fine like you suspected.

my buddie works at a nissan dealership and they bleed the system by jacking up the front and hooking a bottle to the open hood with a hose going to a radiator cap they made with a nipple on it for the hose from the bottle........let it warm up with the heater open....they say turning it on doesn't change the flow in the core......and the front of the car jacked up like 6-8 inches to make the radiator cap the highest point in the system and as the air bleeds out the cap the bottle on the hood keeps the radiator full.....i was told they can bleed the entire system in like 20 mins and NO AIR bubbles left

but thats a little much i just park with the front of the car higher than the back and use the bleeder on the therm housing.....works like a champ =)

My readout for the tempreture on the engine is 213 then in cools to 195 after fans kick.
Isnt 213 rather high?

Factory fans come on at 212°F (although with hysteresis it might actually be 213°F). Either way I think you're within the margin of error there. You sound fine. That is not high. Water boils at 212°F at one atmosphere (sea level), the coolant in your engine has a higher boiling point than water, and is kept at a higher pressure than 1 atmosphere. 212°F is not too high.
