manual steering rack for nx2k
So currently i am running a PS rack setup but without any powersteering. The car is really not bad to drive, just a little harder at slow speeds(10mph or less). I was looking up online for some manual rack setups and i came across a brand new manual rack setup for my 93 nx2000. Aparently these cars came with the option of manual steering? After i select Nissan > 1993 > NX coupe > NX2000 i have the option to select manual steering rack. After i select it, in the description it says "1.6L Engine and Manufactured in Japan [VIN Code JN1] with Manual Steering" Obviously that is not the engine that came in my car, along with not having the factory manual rack. My main question is, if i purchase this rack setup, will it be a direct swap or are there parts that i would have to purchase on top of the manual steering rack? here is the link to the rack.

oh ok, if for some reason he doesn't have one. Would the manual rack i listed in my first post be a direct bolt in? Not sure if the 1600 and 2000 steering components are interchangeable. I also found a manual steering rack that rockauto sells on their site. Basically, i just dont want to drop the 200 dollars or w/e the price is just to find out its not going to work

You can use one out of a sentra E 1.6

I put a 1.6 NX power steering rack in my SE-R to get a tighter turning radius.
It bolted right in, because the only difference between the two units is length of the rack stroke.

You can a swap manual/power racks between 1.6 liter B13s so there is no reason you can't bolt a NX1600 manual rack in a NX2000.

1.6 B13 steering racks are 25.00 at the local U-Pull.

ahh okay, so i will plan on getting that manual rack i found for my nx.

Another question, how different is the turning ratio with the manual rack? I do plan on autocrossing the car pretty soon. I can't have p/s installed in the car since the hoses are always getting screwed up from the constant high revving on the motor. The current rack i have without powersteering is really not bad to steer with even at low speeds. Just a little hard to turn but nothing to complain about

I am pretty sure the Steering ratio is quicker for the nx2000 than the nx1600.

I had a 91 base model hardtop nx1600 nd it was power steering.
As far as I know the "e" model sentra is the only manual rack from the factory.
Although effort may be less,It will have more turns lock to lock than the power rack.
This means you will have to work harder while autocrossing trying to reel up the steering wheel between switchbacks.

Gearing in the power steering rack itself, on the 1.6 and the 2.0, are the same part number, but the steering wheel turns further from lock to lock because of the difference in rack stroke. this does't make a difference in how quick the steering is unless you were to actually turn it from full lock to full lock.

Eggman is right. I had a E model Sentra with a manual rack. On the plus side the manual rack took no effort once the car was rolling and it gave much more "road feel and feed back" at high speeds and on curves/corners. It also had a nice tight turning radius.

On the minus side, the steering was not as responsive in situations that required really quick steering from switchback to switchback. Depending on the course, you will need fast hands.

That's why I kept the power steering, it lets my hands keep up with my accelerator foot.
