buy a compression tester, they are handy.. i bet that cylinders dead and your #1 spark plugs covered in gas and the reason it smells so rich is because #1 cylinder isn't burning any fuel..

do your self a favor if your going to continue driving it, unplug the #1 fuel injector.

if you think it runs "ok" on 3 cylinders your gonna shit your pants with 4 lol!

Is there anything I should check with the valve cover off? nothing looks out of the ordinary.

Look for "pouches" of sludge anywhere, they kind of look like the size of a "loogie" or whatever the term is for spit, and will be in patches. Haha, thats the best I can describe it.

Alright a bit of an update the I swapped out the IACV and a new gasket, but no change what so ever. Also I noticed a possible new symptom, the sucking noise from the intake is REALLY loud. I have a cone filter on a pop charger (warm air) and the noise is coming directly from the filter and it is loud I can hear it in the car with the hood shut at idle. Any ideas? Might get a compression tester from harbor freight in a day or 2.

make sure the hose from the intake tube that goes to the iacv is on tight?

check for vac leaks!

Could all of this be caused by a really bad vacuum leak? The bad idle, intake sucking in a lot, running rich. I don't know if I knew what exactly the problem was I could fix it just frustrated.

did you get it running on all 4 cylinders? if not stop wasting your time on that engine.

Thats the thing if you pull #1 cylinder plug it makes no change at idle but I swear it has the same amount of power if you get on it. I have a couple times to see and it still pulls hard. I suppose a compression test will reveal if its really gone.

dude if you can pull the #1 injector plug or spark plug and theres no difference then its not firing. not to mentiong the putting or sputter? common symptoms of a cylinder not firing!

it could be an injector, spark plug, spark plug wire, dist cap Or worst of all a dead cylinder.

im in a hurry so no time to scroll back through your thread to see what you've tried but you need to do a compression test for sure!

Well i just read everything and i agree with lynch....stop looking for vacume leaks and compression test it....if your %100 sure your getting fuel and spark the get a compression tester from harbor freight and do a full compression check....and make sure you pull power from the dizzy before you do the compression test
