all SR20de dizzys a interchangeable.

There is no such thing as a highport dizzy or lowport dizzy.

Both highports and lowports come from the factory with the same dizzys

In USA

( 91-93 ) B13 highport dizzy external coil
( 94 ) B13 lowport dizzy external coil
( 95-99 ) B14 lowport dizzy internal coil

In Japan

50/50 highports NA and DET come with both internal coil and external coil dizzy.

Thanks a ton. In bad need of a dizzy and o2 sensor but cash has me strapped so I am working a trade for what I need with a local guy but his stuff is all highport. Just wanted to double check, as I thought the maf would be interchangeable at one point but was a no go.

You can bolt up that dizzy from the highport onto your lowport no problem but going from an internal coil to external coil will require you to splice into your harness and rewire for the new dizzy. make sure you get the pigtails for the new dizzy. spark plug wires might be interchangeable not sure, but you'll need the spark wire that goes from the dizzy to the external coil. Good luck.

What? I thought they were one in the same, as I can just pull my old dizzy from the low port and replace it with the new one from the high port, plug everything in, and be ready to drive home..

Wait just re read dre 's post. fml, didn't notice the part about high ports having external coils. I'd really rather not do all that.

So what is the pros and cons of both dizzy? (internal ignition coil vs. external ignition coil)

Not all high ports have external coils. My highport DE is an internal.

They are both good as each other.
The Having the dizzy with the external coil means you can upgrade the coil for what ever reason (bit pointless tho). The dizzys are interchangeable, I ran an External coil on my W10 DET engine as i couldn't be bothered splicing in the pig tails.

So its not true that external coil is easier to tune?

You tune the same regardless whether internal/external coil. You're probably thinking about tuning a distributor based system vs. a distributorless system (coil on plug).

The only difference is that the external coil can be upgraded (like mentioned above). This is a preferred option for serious tuners as an internal coil distributor may have weaker spark under high load scenarios. Replacing the external coil with a higher current/more powerful coil can overcome weak spark under high load scenarios.
