take it step by step.

1. get new NGK copper plugs $3 each and leave the spark plugs out to let the cylinder dry a bit.

2. check your fuses , alternator , ignition , starter etc.

3. make sure that for that alternator bolt that fell has the end nut that has a small leg on it. ( also check the grounds )

4. check your starter at auto parts store its free.

If the engine is cranking, the starter does not need to be tested.

What it sounds like to me is that you're getting way too much fuel in the cylinders, and it's just not igniting. If you have fuel and spark (and obviously air) the engine should start - the only remaining factor is how MUCH gas, timing, and compression. Since we know it's not your timing (interference engine), I'm guessing the amount is off. You said you smelled gas - take out the dipstick and take a whiff of the oil to see if there's any gas in it (running down the sides of the cylinder walls). If you're getting too much gas the most likely cause is the FPR, followed closely by the injectors.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and measure how much pressure you have. If it's way too high, or it releases too quickly, you have problems.

Next thing I would do is check compression, just in case. But I'm pretty sure it's the gas.

Had a friend come over. 2 of the plug wires were backwards when I swapped the distributor cap and rotor earlier today. I guess it was just flooded. Starts up like a champ now

Fantastic. Make sure you still check your oil for gasoline, as a good amount of fuel has probably made its way into your oil pan. It would suck to destroy a perfectly good SR20 that you know and love.
