you check the cable? Both ends can fray and break. Also you may have to drop the tranny to figure it out.

The throw out bearing could be hanging up, the pressure plate could not be torqued right, the return spring inside the tranny on the arm may be missing or not installed correctly. Lube the cable, check the spring on the pedal and go from there.

Yeah so check both ends of the cable, replace it and then set aside some time to drop the tranny and have a peak.

This is likely a classic case of a clutch cable that is too loose. Tighten up that cable!
The pressure plate fingers don't have much strength to pull the pedal back at one specific position in their range of motion. If the cable is too loose then the pressure plate fingers have no real pull on the cable with the clutch pedal at the floor. Likely your clutch engagement is also very close to the floor. This may be something you like, but you'll have to deal with it being a bit higher when you tighten that cable. It is just the nature of the beast.

If you find the cable can not be tightened anymore, you may have a stretched cable which needs a spacer to compensate for. Or you may find the cable is on its way out.

There is a rare situation where the clutch cable can be too tight and cause similar symptoms, but I don't think that is the case here.
In these rare instances, the cable is too tight and with full pedal travel the TOB can "over-center" and/or the pressure plate fingers can be pushed so far in that they reach the clutch disc and catch on the disc almost locking the two together unless you pull back on the pedal. This is likely not what you're experiencing.

There is no need to start replacing things until you adjust that cable and make sure it is not too loose (or very very tight).

ok so i lloked at the cable and i think it is missing some pieces. this is a photo i found on here the cable on the bottom is one i have in the garage and the one that is on my car has no rubber pieces all it has is the adjuster. and the metal spacer on the back. think i may need to change it.[img][/IMG]
