Thread: CC stage 4 clutch problem

Hi guys,

Ordered a Competition Clutch stage 4 for my built sr20ve.

Problem is once installed there is way too much slack in the clutch cable. Even fully adjusted there is still too much slack at the point where the cable meets the clutch arm on the gearbox. So I modified the black clutch bracket on the gearbox to move it backwards and take up the slack on the cable.

This allows me to adjust the clutch now. However, aside from the very stiff pedal feel, I'm still battling to find gears, especially at higher rpm. The clutch is adjusted so far that it's at the point where there is almost no play left on the pedal, so I can't adjust it any further or I'd be riding the clutch all the time. Other peopel with the CC clutch have reported the same issue. Is this common on CC clutches or just in general on aftermarket clutches.

What are good clutch options to look at that won't have this problem, but can still hold about 230+whp without slipping. Should I change out just the disc or is the pressure plate the culprit?

Sucks when you spend about $400 on something and it doesn't work!

I should mention I'm running a sr16ve tranny. Not sure if that has anything to do with the adjustment of the clutch.

its common for after market clutches to require more adjustment then a stock cable can provide. andreas miko makes a tranny bracket that has a spacer built in for this reason. you can also use washers or moved the bolt at the end of the clutch cable to get more adjustment.

I've solved that issue by moving the bracket fuirther back. Some guys have used spacers on theirs. Either way, even at the limit of adjustment, I still battle to find gears.

the cable could be stretched. I have also used a 1.6l cable in the past since its shorter.

and if you got the tranny bracket that I made you would not have the problem. The spacer is a band aid fix, the real fix is the leverage bar.

....doctor G.. mr.mikos bracket solved this issue for me to the "T".

with new cable and clutch ,it had to much slack..had... that was totally fixed... its another world.
