Bolts to use on engine stand?
Anyone know what diameter/size of bolt to use to put the SR onto an engine stand? I looked in the FSM and did a quick search online and didn't come up with anything. I've got this shortblock I wanna put the accessories back on, and clean up, to prep for the head.

Any ideas? Thanks!

On Crim's engine stand I was able to use the same tranny bolts. If I'm not mistaken 2of the tranny bolts are longer than the other ones or you can probably go to the hardware store and find matching tranny bolts but longer in size.

I'm wondering the same thing. I just got a sr20de motor that i'm gonna clean and build up. at my job(autozone) we have one for 59.99, but I have no clue how its suppose to bolt up. I have 20% employee discount, but I found that harbor freight has one for $38.99 for the same engine stand specs.

If you're gonna buy an engine stand, buy one that has a oil drip pan incorporated in it. You will be glad you did, trust me.

Oh and just take some transmission bolts to the hardware store.

where can I find one of those engine stands? I'll stop by tomorrow at nissan & infiniti to pick up some transmission bolts, theyre like 5 mins from me.

I found a pic that is helpful. it's from andreas miko sr20vet thread

How deep do those bolts go in?

i took a trans. bolt to lowes to get the right thread pitch and got 4 bolts that were about 1/2" to 1" longer. i wish i still had the bags so i could tell you the pitch and length. hell...maybe in the morning i can go out to the garage and measure.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think about tranny bolts. I'll look and see what they are, and take the specs to the hardware store.

Have a good day everyone.

I usually just use some from my bin-o-bolts.

Also I find its easier to mount it up with just the hub and hang it like that (usually off the picker) then hang the actual stand frame on the swivel/hub after getting it all snugged up.

That's a GREAT idea! Thanks!

I was wondering how I was going to put the shortblock on the stand, if I have to have a way to hold it in place (no cherry picker yet), while mounting it to the hub on the engine stand.

Now, I can just pull the hub from the stand, mount it to the motor, and then have a friend help me lift it onto the engine stand itself.

Thanks!
