Thread: How long do you guys plan on keeping your B13 or your SE-R?

Just want to hear you guys' / girls' opinions/thoughts. People say we're stupid for spending so much money on our shitbox and it's not worth it. Is it? I just bought a 1993 SE-R and planning on keeping it forever. I got it for $1200 and i don't mind dropping $5k on it. Obviously, not instantly, but whatever the amount. Personally, I don't think the value of aftermarket parts will ever equal to the amount of a stock vehicle unless it is favored in that market. I'm not letting what others say effect me, but I'm just curious to what you guys have to say...

I for one bought my first se-r, a 91 aztec red w/ sunroof, 234k mile, rusty, and rod knock ridden engine back in 2003, I later made the mistake of selling it in 05 after putting many more mods into it as well as the jdm motor that i put in it when i first got it. Put 55k miles on it and had 289k miles on it when i sold it. I had an absolute blast with this car going to the drag strip every weekend, literally. 14.3@97 all motor on street tires with a jdm de and full bolt ons. 2 months later the guy I sold it to got into an accident and totaled it.

I found my current se-r a 92 white, 110k mile, no sunroof, two owner, az rust free car, in May of 07. I will never get rid of this car. I wont make that mistake again. I have way too much into it and its one of my pride and joys.

Ive owned one other SE-R that was a 93, one owner, Cali car rust free, 245k miles all original, all well maintained, sunroof, a/c, immaculate interior, i mean brand spakin new looking. Owned previously by an old lady that gave it to an auction because it wouldnt pass cali emissions and she was tired of dumping money into it. Won it for 861 bucks on ebay. Daily drove it for a couple months and sold it for $2500 bucks to a Marine guy that used to own one when he lived i Puerto Rico.

I'll own the car until it starts to rust through the floor or if it gets an accident where the frame needs to be pulled. My old Celica GTS was never the same after the accident which bent the frame a little, I even put it on the alignment rack myself and slotted the front and rear subframe and shifted the frames so it would drive straight... never again.

I will keep my s13 as long as it is still fun and I am able to upgrade/repair it myself. I don't view it as a car but a hobby and a toy. Thus, I couldn't care less how much it is worth.

I've owned my '93 Classic since new. Off the dealer lot. Took my test-drive in it, then bought it.

I will never sell it.

I've spent over twice as much money modifying it as it cost brand new. When I am done, I will have invested at least three-times (3X) as much as it cost off the showroom floor.

I do not care one iota what "other folks" think of my ride. I care only what the like-minded old timers on this forum, and what I think. What I think being paramount.

I could give a flying rats ass what it would command in a sale. It is not, nor will it ever be for sale. As I have said before, my wife swears she is getting a backhoe and burying me in my Classic.

My answer is very simple. I will own my SE-R for the rest of my life.

God forbid I ever get into an accident with it. I would only sell it if I ever was put into a situation where I needed to.

As far as what others think. It's all in the eyes of the owner. For some people cars are a phase of life. For me it is somewhat of a lifestyle. I love it and I can not imagine not owning my SE-R. This car means more to me than what one would imagine. Many memories that will never be forgotton. My closest friends came in to my life because of this car. The countless nights of drinking some beer and working on the car are priceless. Also lets not forget the beautiful Sunday morning cruises.

Hell no I am not getting rid of my car. It has been a wonderful 16 years and I am ready for a lot more.

I dont plan on selling it ever i sold my first one and i realized once i drove the other car how much i missed my ser.

I cant wait till it reaches 30years old and i can buy my antique tag and rock it proudly in my lil black monster.

The plan has been to keep it forever as long as it doesn't get totaled or rust out. After 8+ years of ownership and the desire for a better daily driver the fate of the Sentra isn't so solid in my mind anymore. It seems like it might be destined to become a track rat. But we'll see if that's something I want to do to it. Either way, it needs to be useful and put smiles on my face. I won't let it just sit and rot. I'll let someone else enjoy it before then.

I plan on keeping the car forever because;

1. It's super fun and bigger than my 2004 turboed miata
2. It's affordable and a good daily with pretty good handling
3. I can go turbo or VVL. Not to mention the SR20 motor has a popular aftermarket industry
4. Parts can be found abundantly, pretty much you see at least 3-4 Sentras in junkyards
5. Kinda low profile car compared to Hondas.
