Clutch pedal issues please help!
Ok first of all sup everyone it's been a while, now down to business. My clutch cable was getting notching it kinda popped back after a few seconds of delay. So I replaced the cable and found that it had began to stray apart. The second cable began to do the same. It actually snapped after 3 months. I replaced it with a third and this one is now popping but it's only been in for a day the cable is good I think it may be the rod that comes out of the trans! Any help would be appreciated

where is it fraying apart? i had one fall apart at the adjustment nut....and ive had one fray, then sanp while driving, but it frayed about 8 inches from the pedal into thru the firewall...

put a brand new oem one in and all is good....

are you also using a copper reducer where it meets the tranny cable bracket?

The clutch cable is fraying in between the firewall. I was using a copper reducer but I took it out because I thought it was assisting damage. It feels almost like the clutch fork is seizing half way up. It goes through all gears fine I just have to pop the pedal half way up because it stops. The cable is new but aftermarket.

Some people just get clutches that snap cables over and over. I think its install technique but not sure because it happens to experienced guys and noobs alike.

I'm just glad I haven't ever gotten that.

What kind of clutch is it?

The clutch is a stock exedy kit from Nissan and was installed about a year ago this is a more recent problem

Could be the sleeve inside the trans that the throw out bearing rides on take the trans off clean and lube the sleeve. That's what I did with the addition to a new oem clutch cable from Nissan and I have never had a problem.

I think I may have to do that! The only problem is I work two jobs, and have virtually no time.

If its breaking cables regularly and has a stiff pedal more than likely a throwout bearing issues where the sleeve that it rides on on the bellhousing is not greased enough and/or the fork shaft itself where it seats into the bellhousing at the base. Ive seen them get to the point where the inner sleeve of the throwout bearing cracks and splits because of not enough lubrication. You shouldnt be breaking cables like that regularly. I had an ACT extreme in my car for 3+ years and never broke a cable, then went to a twin disk comp clutch where it was even stiffer and never broke a cable. I had spares just in case but if id feel it get notchy at all id adjust the cable and it would go away. Thing is i always made sure the throwout bearing and sleeve was properly greased as well as the fork shaft at the base.

Yea I'm just gonna have to take the trans down because I'm leaning toward that being the issue. Do you guys think I should disassemble the clutch fork and clean/ lube that as well?

You need to lift the fork out of the base of the bellhousing so you can lube the collar inside. Pretty simple and yes i recommend it. Use the same type of wheel bearing/axle grease on the TOB sleeve and fork shaft base.
