You can expect to pay +$600 for a p11 tranny. You have alot of research to do.

1999'ish - 2001 (?) Infiniti. Google it or Wiki it. Make sure it is the re-designed beefier tranny. I *think* the P11 vehicle came with the early-tranny in the first year or so. Then it changed to the new re-designed beefier tranny.

I'll bet you money that the exact, specific, answer is in one of those threads I posted.

Define crazy for me. (You're new so you probably don't realize the irony of that statement coming from me. :rofl

I'm betting that crazy-money to me is not the same as crazy-money to you.

B13/14 tranny, rebuilt, or in good working condition = 250-450 bucks or so.

B15/P11 tranny, in good working condition = 600-1100 or so, depending on mileage, if it is already converted to cable actuation for you, the seller, etc....

Re-read Ashtons posts. Use the correct fluid per Ashton, and all (4) numbered pointers I gave you in a previous post, you could/should be alright. It depends on your driving style (habits) and a bit of luck. Ashton has a lot more experience than I do on high-horsepower (torque really) and beating the shit out of transmissions.

To me? With my budget and lack of mechanical ability? It was a no-brainer to upgrade to the B15 transmission (including all of my other numbered pointers) for what I consider a small amount of money considering the reliability of the upgrade and my personal history with the B13 tranny (which is less than desirable, to say the least). And I paid around 900'ish for my B15 tranny from Greg at G-Spec. He sourced the tranny, got it shipped to my mechanics shop, and he talked my mechanic through the installation on the phone. Worth every single penny to me. I don't wrench on my own car, and rely upon Gregs very high level of expertise to assist me in my modifications. That, combined with an honest and highly competent, family owned, local mechanic shop.

I also did all the numbered things I outlined for you, but used a Stage 3 G-Spec clutch kit as I am never going turbo, just a bolted-on NA VE. By the time I got "done" with my tranny? Including the brand new clutch, fancy-ass tranny fluid, Andreas Miko Tranny Saver Bracket, and installation labor (I already had a set of Prothanes installed previously)? I think that would be crazy-money to you. To me it was merely a smart investment in my cherished Classic.

The decision is yours and yours alone. Read the threads, decide what is best for you in your unique circumstances.

ill be honest with you shawn i havent read all the threads JUST yet.
i know from reading the p11 threads thats what i want to do. ill do the work myself with help from friends, they own sti and evos so id say they can help me change a tranny out and swap the necessary parts out.
but if i cant source a p11 tranny im going with the stock b13 tranny with the gear oil Ashton suggested. i think my power lever wont destroy it till i can source a p11. thats my goal is to get a better tranny in there.
