for starters the inserts are usually made by ES unless im mistaken..

as for the red vs black prothanes i do believe only the color is the difference.

If they are made by ES, I remember reading that the black is impregnated with graphite, but the red is not. That's supposed to be for lubrication. I read that on the site I looked up different ES bushings on.

prothanes made by energy suspension I had used both and the color is the only difference I usually get them at amazon.com $55 free shipping within the us

The black is supposed to be a little more resistant to oil and grease that will "eat" polyurathane. But I dont know of anyone has ever really destroyed any prothane from regular use, or at all.

since when is Prothane brand made by Energy Suspension? Oh, wait, they arent.

My exact though. Prothane is a company of its own.
ES makes fillers for the existing mounts, not full inserts.
