how much does this stuff cost? knowing ARC, it wouldn't be very cost effective.

vivid raceing sells them for $22.
"while browsing the ARC website we found an independent test useing two heat detection monitors placed directly on a portable gas burner, one of which with the cool fin while the other was not. after 14 minutes and 19 seconds, the none cool fin unit measured 155 degrees C on the pyrometer while the cool fin encased unit was shown at an amazing 130 degrees C

^not bad at all.

also, ARC had them on their track prepped DC2 and dropped temp from 117C to 112C. i would imagine those are intake temps. i think it would be more useful on an oil pan for oil temps since the oil is not passing through a pipe at very high speeds, granted it doesn't sit stagnant in the pan. but it does move relatively slow.

yup, thats were i heard about it. but they never got to test it because they broke a drive belt on the track.

I'm sure they would help the oil pan out. Even if the oil was moving quickly through the pan, a good amount of extra heat would still be removed due to the large temperature gradient between hot oil and the outside air. These sound like a good buy to me!

For the record, the only place these would be useful on an intake is the hot pipe of a turbo setup. But if you already have a decent intercooler, I suspect it wouldn't even be worth putting them on the pipes.
