Idk if you guys saw my acceleration issue thread ill put a link here

http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-sr20/52291-acceleration-issue.html

Well after i put my distributor back on the idle was at about 1200 rpm's and i took it for a test drive to see if it was still leaking. The car had very very good power! No hesitation no bog nada!!! I got back and i adjusted the distributor and the idle went to about idk 1000 and the car didnt even want to move. But before i messed with it, the car was idling at about 800 rpm's warmed up. So the power loss, do you guys think this is where its coming from?

Before you adjust the idle screw... you need to follow the steps and put it in timing mode. Nissan ECUs assume everything is set a certain way, and if you adjust the screw and its not in timing mode it'll try to compensate and will throw everything else off. Read up on how to put the car in timing/ Idle adjust mode... or find someone with a consult cable and they can do it for you. I've done it several times and works like a charm, just have to have a timing gun though to get it really accurate and peppy. If there is no bog, then just set the car in timing mode and adjust the screw without adjusting the distributor setting.

...oh and yes.. get a new o-ring for your distributor its too flat and not sealing FOR SURE.

gregv sells the right o-ring. I can tell you that when my o-ring looked like that I had a leak. It also had oil on the tranny and on the head gasket that sticks up from the corner of the head.

I got my O-ring from O'rielly's. Felpro makes it. Cost around $3

Okay i just found out how to adjust the idle
Idle Speed Adjustment
Where do i leave the distributor while i do this? Cause i never adjusted it and idk where to leave it while i adjust the idle. Just get it to where it idles and pulls fine? Thats alittle over 1100 rpm's

Yep, leave disrtibutor in the middle so that the top slot, the bolt head has equal spacing on both sides. Do this and then set the idle to what you want. If the head has been shaved you might need to move it Move the distributor towards the firewall is advancing and will gain you a little power, away from firewall is retarding the timing.
