how far to push the red line?
I was watching a vid on i believe its the vt or ve muffler installed on a 200 sx, and the guy was pushing to 8000 rpm is that safe, ill push mine to about 7500 sometimes and it still wants to pull but I don't want to blow the eng.

The question you asked it entirely too vague to properly answer! Nobody here will be able to give you the information you require without knowing what car you have, what engine you have in said car and what modifications you have done to said engine, specifically the valvetrain.

Some motors are built to handle 6500 RPM while others are built to handle 10,000 RPM. It all depends on your set-up. However, banging a motor off or near the rev limiter all the time WILL shorten the life of the engine! It may still last a long time if it is built right but everything has a breaking point, especially when you push it to or near it's peak stress point all the time.

Engine? Cams? Springs/Retainers? ECU? How many miles on it? Compression and genereal overall health of the motor?? Lots of variables to consider. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys on this forum, so if you give them the details of your set-up they will steer you in the right direction.

I rev to 11k every night during my ricer race dreams

VE with springs and retainers can go to 8k rpm. VE with N1 cams and or SR16VE cams can go to 8k rpm easily on stock springs and retainers.

I have a 96 200sx se-r 2.5 inch header and exhaust no cat, cold air intake, iridium plugs wires, chip. red line starts at 7000-9000 no rev limiter. Like I said Ill push it to 7500 and it still feels like it has plenty more. Oh yeah 173000 on the car and it pulls strong.

put it on a dyno and you will see where the power is falling off at. The sound of the motor is prob exciting you and making it feel like it will rev to the moon.
