Have you tried just pushing in the clutch slightly maybe like half way to the floor and put the car in gear. If it still does not want to work then the Pressure plate itself might be bad. Thats all there is to it. Its a pretty simple thing.

If the half way to the floor works then you need to loosen your clutch cable not tighten it.

Yes! Ashton to the rescue again!

Yes I've tried every point in the adjustment. I bypassed the clutch start sensor so i can test. Im assuming the fingers are worn out and cannot release the tension on the clutch.

have you tried loosening the cable?

I ruined my last TOB by over-tightening/shortening the clutch cable too much.

If the clutch arm travel is too long (clutch cable adjusted too short) when the clutch pedal is fully depressed the TOB will press the PP splines into contact with the clutch disc, which will then be forced into contact with the flywheel, thus engaging the clutch and eventually torching the TOB.

just throwing ideas out there

Yea that was happening because i was trying to look for the swweet spot to correctly disengage the clutch. The clutch never released so the clamp load is too much for the worn fingers. Thats my guess.

So i used my stock pressure plate and that solved my issue. I have asked for a refund but i have waited 3 months before installing it. He has helped me on my issues with my car before, and want to be fair. Can you guys help me decide what to do? I paid $275.

I'm glad your issue is finally resolved. Personally I would call ACT and explain the issue. Tell them you can send back the PP to them for testing and you would like to exchange it for HD instead of the XT

I had a similar issue before, it was with a clutch that was in my car before I bought it, the disk material itself was acutally much thicker causing the fingers to go so far in with my ACT XT pressure plate that there was no way it was going to disengage. What type of disk is it that you are using? What kind of step did the machine shop put on your flywheel? I dont know what stock step is, but sometimes machine shops put more than stock step to make clutch 'stronger' but it makes it so you can't disengage, like in this instance.

The clutch was used. He had it for 3 years! No way they would exchange it.

The flywheel has no additional step. It was just resurfaced.
