93 SE-R overheating issues
Hoping someone might have a similar experience-I have a recently lo-hi port swap on my 92.5 se-r, and driving @highway speeds the temp gauge will wonder quite a bit. Now the fans are tested, they work and come on properly, at least at idle..Temp sensors are all changed, (the engine installed was out of another 91 se-r I had), fan switch is proper...full of coolant, and I did bleed the cooling system quite well. Although I have never had issues with air in the system, so maybe I need to be more thourough?? Any suggestions and/or experience anyone can lend?? Thanks!!

Check your temp gauge sensor. The spade on mine was able to wiggle around. So full throttle + hard engine mounts created enough vibration to get that spade to move around and throw off the reading. I switched to another sensor and the needle holds solid. My needle never went above the middle though so you might have a over heating problem. If you can find out what the temp for the coolant it would tell you if the car is truly overheating.

Fans will kick in at a certain temp. If you still keep going up on temp then something is definitely not right.

Some consult viewing software you can check out. Nissan Datascan, ECU talk.

my temp guage is fine.....i just put a new radiaotr in cuz wen i did the vw headlight swap on my nx, the sawzall hit the rad and killed it.....so i got another one and it only took like 3.5 quarts of coolant.....and 1 quart of water......i ran it while it was cold till it warmed up buped the lower rad hose and kept putting in more coolant .....

i think maybe the brand/rating of coolant was wrong???waht should be used????

How are you bleeding it? You need to bleed it with the radiator cap being higher than the heater core, so jack stands in front, also the fans need to kick off, if they dont then its not bleed right and will overheat.
