Only bad advice i saw was not stopping at tdc, yes you dont have to but its better to especially since there will be slack on the chain. Better to have it at TDC so that you know 100% that things are lined back up properly.
Also, yes remove the tensioner. Makes life much easier. I could see it being a real PITA without removing it to do the job.
Other than that, its pretty easy and straight forward. I dont even use zip ties on any of the ones i do. I just verify that the dowells are at 10 oclock on the intake and 12 oclock on the exhaust and motor is at TDC, and 20 pins between the dots on the gears. When you do them as much as I do you tend to get a good feel for them.
