Rod Bearings
Hey guys,

So yesterday I started to notice a very slight knocking noise. Have thrown 3 rods previously, (have to love used motors and people abusing them) Well anyways, I caught it in the very early stages. Research has been done that you can drop the oil pans and replace the bearings that way. My question is do you need to get a full-set of bearings or can you replace rod bearings only?

Thanks you!

You can purchase and replace rod bearings without purchasing and replacing the main or thrust bearings.

I recommend calling Greg Vogel at www.gspec.com for your needs.

Thank you, I have used GregV before and will use him again. Just want to make sure that it will do no harm or decline the longevity of the motor by only doing rod bearings and not the thrust or main bearings.

Hey figured that I no longer have the 98 so it was time to change it. This seems to fit well with #4 motor victim to the knock. Didn't think it was contagious.

just replace the rod bearings, i would only replace the bad one, leaving the known good ones alone. if its not broke dont fix it.
