it might go away once you put a load on it and seat those rings. Did you get a plateau hone when you installed the pistons and rings?

Maybe the seals and i don't think it's the rings but of course you can't avoid not to think about the rings because of what is happening. I already pull out the head anyway and I'll take it to the shop to check the valve seals.

I'm going to say it's valve stem seals due to the amount of oil you can see in the combustion chamber. I bet the shop dunked the head in varsol or another chemical and it just ate away at the seals. I saw this happen to a car at my buddies shop and told him about what it was, and he called me back and said, yep, took the exhaust manifold off and could see oil just pouring from the valve stem area, just dripping down. On the break in note, never had a single ring job smoke at all, zero smoke on break in whether its an SR or any other engine, should not be smoke at all on a fresh build. Maybe like 5 seconds and then it stops quick.

Did you find any oil on the backside of the valves? My setup was a lil smokey and oily inside the bores after initial start-up and warm up. I gave it a little bit of load (drove it around the block) and it cleared rigth up. Your rings just may need to be seated.
fyi
I am also running CP pistons.
good luck

Yea I found some oil but not really sure about it. Anyway i already dropped it off to the shop. As (David NA->FI ) says zero smoke on break in whether its an SR or any other engine, should not be smoke at all on a fresh build. Maybe like 5 seconds and then it stops quick. So I don't think it's the rings...

I'll call the shop tomorrow and see what they gonna tell me about the seals..

Finally I got the head back from the shop...they were telling probably I had too much fuel. I bought a set of seals and gave it to them. I told them just repalce it and shut the F**8 up..Put it back together last night and started up this morning. Starts right up and NO more smoke just what I have been expected in a new build montor. Thanks GUys!!!!
