Thought I would say hello.....(now with pics)
Hi all!

I just bought a 97 SE-R and thought this looked like a good place to learn more, etc, etc. The 97 I just bought is my new daily driver and I don't plan on doing a WHOLE lot to it as my "fun" car is a 88 MR2 with 20V ST engine. (Yes, it hauls butt.)

Anyway, I'm a long time Nissan/Toyota fan. I had a Frontier that I could....not.....kill and owned a 98 200SX SE that I just recently sold to a friend in need. I lucked out and found this 97 SE-R for $2200 in REALLY nice shape with 94K miles. It's bright red and needs some new paint here n there but the interior is SPOTLESS and the stereo is awesome. (But I'm ripping the head unit out and putting the one from my MR2 in.)

The only thing that I've found wrong with the car is the clutch was slipping. I noticed that the disengage point of the pedal was at the VERY top of travel. When I got home, I popped the hood and sure enough, the adjuster is all the way in. I bet I can fix that.

Anyway, for $2200, I think it was a pretty good deal. The car was well cared for mechanically as I have receipts for oil changes, tires, and damn near everything else. I'll get pics up as soon as it quits raining outside. I'll be doing little mods here and there. (I just signed up for the beam bending coming to Ga as I'm a sucker for handling. Straight lines are for fast cars, curves are for fast drivers.)

I just wanted to stop and say "hello."

That's really the worst spot of the paint. The hood could use a re-spray and there's one VERY small hit on the passenger side that I'm sure you'll notice.

Still, not bad for $2200.

Front looks pretty good. (imo)

There's the dent/blemish. OH NOEZ!

Anyway, the car came with factory alarm and the guy put all new speakers in, amp, 15" sub, Pioneer h/u and you can eat off the interior. (I'm serious, it's BEAUTIFUL on the inside.)

That's the DD. THIS is the "Go Kart."

Welcome to the Site and to the SR engines

Thats a pretty good deal you got there!

I used to own a 98 200sx Base, with the GA16DE that thing was fairly quick for what it was, but when I got an SR car, the difference was pretty good

Welcome, enjoy your stay, if you have questions feel free to ask, this site has a lot of knowledgeable people

BTW, I thought I wouldn't mod my car, other then just an Intake... lets just say it's hard not to mod this car

Thanks all.
I've read a good bit on here already. It definitely seems to be a very good knowledge base to work off of.

I'm sure I'll have a mod here and there but most of the "mod money" goes into the MR2. (I'll make sure to throw a pic or two of it as well.) I will be taking part of the "beam bending" that's coming to Georgia if they still have room.

I really liked my little base 98 200SX. It was a GREAT car. I only sold it because I had a friend that doesn't make much money and she's in college and needed something to get back and forth. She'd been driving it for about 1.5 months and I was using my MR2 for a DD. In her price range, she wasn't going to find anything that was reliable and I knew that the little Nissan wouldn't fail her so I sold it to her for a really good price. I guess this SE-R was karma paying me back a little.

Welcome Mayoke. There is tons upon tons of good info here, most of us have been in the SE-R game for so long that we know more IMO than even some of the Nissan engineers...

For example i bet they ddnt plan on having anyone know that you can use NX2000 calipers on a B13

I have always liked the lines of the MR2..I used to have an 89 Accord LX-i and always liked it because of it's boxy look, glad to have you on the sight now start posting.

I'm working on it. Hoping the weather clears up so I can adjust the clutch engagement. I'll be sure to take some pics and post them. The paints not perfect by a LONG shot but still, I think I got a pretty good deal.

I'll sneak pics of the MR2 in as well. It has one of the cleanest engine swaps EVER done. (Lord knows I've seen a TON of em.) Nothing quite beats the sound of a high strung 4-cyl with individual throttle bodies opened up at 8K RPM.
