so at 3,000 and 1,200 miles there is very little wear and hence very little loss of thickness on the disks and pp surfaces. I assume that your flywheels have never been used successfully with another clutch and they have the same mileage as the clutches?

I can almost guarantee that the step size is causing this issue. Improper stepping of the sr20 flywheel causes many more issues than most people realize, and these issues are commonly blamed on the clutch cable.

True true.. Yup same mileage on clutch and fly.

I think I'll just drop the tranny and get the flywheel resurfaced when I change my mounts.

I was trying to remember what the step is supposed to be. I am pretty sure it is .007" (7 thousandths of an inch) which is really small, you will barely be able to feel it.

Lots of people think it's fine to just machine it flat, but I totally disagree, it does need to be there. I kind of want to start a how to or something since info on this is really lacking.

I'm sure anything from 4 to 10 thou would be fine. The step in those pics appear to be more in the range of 50-150 thou. Here are some decent threads I found:

Didnt read the whole thread, but I had a similar issue. It ended up being the clutch cable itself. How old is yours?

Obviously not.

Bump from hell but I finally had a problem where it was sticking to the floor each time so I went to Autozone. I did the way you said like this but it didn't work with the spring that you pictured, I used one probably 2 sizes bigger (I bought the one for 5.99 that comes with ~6 springs) So I try my clutch and it still didn't work.... Well What I ended up doing was leaving that spring on there AND putting a spring on the clutch pedal from a little hole by one of the switches to a metal bracket under the dash... So far so good, works perfect

Btw I bumped this because I had this problem and this is one of the first threads that came up, so for everyone to know when they look at this thread, here it is lol
