Can someone measure an alternator bolt for me?
My bolt fell out somehow and the belt slipped off the alternator pulley. Need to go buy another bolt at Home Depot or Lowes and I need some measurements.

I need the one that attaches the alternator to the iron piece attached to the block. Its the one that the whole alternator pivots on to tighten the belt.

Thanks!

put a screw driver threw the pivot hole(were it meets the block, under headers) to get a rough lentgh measuement, mark it then go buy a bolt thats close to the size.....

it like 5 inches i think......then just get some washers.....and a nut, thats what i did

oh wait you said pulley...idk then.....

I can snag a picture or two while my alternator is down.

This happened to me too.. easiest for me was to grab a bolt I was sure was long enough and made sure it had a long threaded length. Then I just put it in and used loctite. Sticks out an inch or a little less but no big deal since there isn't anything for it to hit (between belts).

From the common parts list thread.

Use a shorter bolt to obtain the proper size, then just measure the length of where the bolt needs to be.

What the hell, this is funny, mine just fell out yesterday too, i was driving then hear ding ding ding as something bounced around under the car on the road. then the best started to screetch real bad, i knew what it was being this isnt the first time this has happened, i didnt have a spare bolt and the parts stores were closed but i found one of my front bumper support bolts the one that goes through the frame and support, perfect length then i used a spare exhaust stud nut and walla, perfecto, i dont know how they keep freakin comin loose. but tends to happen alot. no matter how tight you get it.
