i think that one bracket is for the rear motor mount, if so make sure it goes back in.

what he is talking about is that extra brace coming off the motor mount bracket to the block. Im guessing they are found on the models with the 1 piece axle not the one with the carrier. Looks like it bolts to one of those bolt positions.

Other than that ive never seen that extra brace on any of the sr's ive ever worked on. Must have been an overseas thing.

Yeah I put a bracket in without the arm, this is an N1 engine

A guy from work let me borrow a radiator pressure tester so I'm going to test it tmw and see if its the headgasket, if it checks out fine with that I will do as you said with the rubber tipped compression piece at TDC for the cylinder..

Well, it held the pressure so now I will have to resort to a leakdown test... =\

You say I should have it resurfaced and all that but Honestly, isn't it cheaper to get a JDM engine...? I can use soku and get it for ~500 shipped

Your in cali, Ronald sells me the jdm motors for 350 plus 125 shipping. Your closer so you could probably either go pick it up or it should be less than 125 for shipping. All in all if the motor has low compression your probably better to just get a jdm motor that is nice and fresh.

they are from LA and all I have is my b14 to drive lol would cost me about 90 bucks in gas plus a dirty car I'll have to contact ronald and see how much I can get them from but it won't be for a while.. Going to have to decide if I want to even fix it or not
