Thread: How to pull the head?

Like i said, no need to remove the brackets from the plenum to remove the runners. The plenum can stay in the car for the entire head removal. Ive yet to have one that i couldnt remove the runners and without even having to loosen the bracket bolts.

Ve's are easier except for the stupid coolant hoses that are bolted to the intake manifold. But still less of a pain. And yes ve's have way too many support brackets on them. I always remove all of them before installing the motors. They are useless. not like the intake manifold is gonna crack and fall apart. Nissan really went above and beyond supporting that intake manifold. lol.

yea its possible man but taking the engine out gives you the chance to clean it up and clean the bay

yea the intake doesn't weigh very much really so i saw no reason to keep the 5-6? brackets lol plus I've seen lots of others do it an no ill effects

Yep, never seen any ill affect ever happen on any sr motor when it comes to intake manifold support brackets being removed. I think the two on the top going over the fuel rail to the head are ugly as well and every good looking ve should not have those brackets at the least. lol.

Usually on the jdm highports i put in as well i remove all intake manifold bracing. Just makes life easier if you ever do have to pull the head. No prybar needed to remove the runners with the braces off. And believe me the bottom ones under the plenum are an absolute pain to remove while in the car.

yea the top 2 on the ve are a must go. i take the others off the back to make life easy if i have to change a starter or something.

as for the highport de's yea dude those brackets suck donkey balls, one of the big hoses on the water neck is a nightmare also, we ended up cutting the fucker.

I couldn't believe the weight of this thing once I had got it off!

Yeah there are a couple different designs for that bracket depending on the year or if its a jdm motor. The jdm motor has a lighter bracket but still bulky and heavy and hard as hell to get the bolts out.

Theres another bracket still on the back of the motor and the two on the front.

You can just about see it on the left of the oil filter, bolted to the housing the starter goes through.

To allow me to fit the bracket for the shaft, when I removed the 1 piece shaft.
