Thread: almost killed me

My 4 door just almost killed me. I was cruisin, goin around 55 on 54th ave s when i heared a grinding, and the a metal clashin sound, and my drivers side wheel locked up and send me into a median. Completely fucking up my car. Any ideas on what it could be?

Im lookin at it tomorrow morning. When the wheel locked up it slung me around into the median. I need control arms, struts, have 3 kinda bent wheels, need 2 new tires, front bumper is thrashed, battery smashed my sub,head hit the window pretty hard and smashed my knee into the console thing. Weird thing is, i drove it home. No clue how.

glad ur ok, sounds like your break system was dirty and friction caused the metal to expand and lock up. If the wheel actually locked up and the car did not jump all over the place on the way home then your axle was not at fault. I would think an axle would snap in half before it would stop your wheel? maybe??.

it honestly sounds like you should just part her out or use her parts towards the next one. it really isnt worth it to fix these cars unless the damage isnt to bad and its rust free.

im thinking wheel bearing failed instally locking up the wheel. but really that doesnt happen, youd here it grinding and coming apart a lil bit before.

im gonna guess brake caliper bolt came out and popped up into the wheel. Ive seen it happen on a buddies sentra. Didnt lock the wheel up but if it had moved out any more it possibly could have.

sounds like what happend to my friend in his nx (boomstick) except his car didnt get fucked up (sorry to hear btw)

his wheel bearings were shot, he replaced them an hasn't had an issue since that i know of.

Bought new control arms and got free replacement struts
