Protecting Carbon Fiber
Since alot of us are getting CF ,I wanted to start a thread about what people use to protect their CF parts from UV and other contaminants that will erode or damage the clearcoat.
I am looking for suggestions for waxes, protectants, etc.

I wanna hear from you guys who DONT have garage queens ....Go!

As someone who is pondering getting CF, I'd also like to hear from people who have painted it to match the color of their car, if you used something special, and how well it has held up.

I have a garage queen, but you're gonna hear from me anyways.

Paint. It will protect the hood and trunk really well.

I am doing so shortly. Hood and trunk. On my garage queen.

I'm having both the hood and trunk done in KH3 Nissan black to match. Clear coated, blah, blah, blah. Whatever my body man wants to do to do it correctly and well. I expect excellence and am willing to pay for it.

That may certainly be true, however IF any CF company does a good job on the clear coat, I would guess it is Seibon. Only because the product that I have in my hands is so well done in every other respect.

I'm getting a VIS hood in the coming weeks. Evo style. I just hope it all lines up right. The hood will be getting painted to match the car.

Shawn, I sure hope the Seibon holds up better than others. Here in FL they fade out fast.
My plan was to run it until it starts to fade or look bad and then paint it.
My car needs to be painted anyway,so maybe at the same time.

I've heard that painting CF can turn out looking crappy, but I suppose it comes down to the technique (and I've heard the weave as well).

Ive seen cf painted that still looks like cf.

You still see the weave etc

Leave it raw cause it looks even worse painted in most cases.

Stratton.
