SR20ve vs SR20det
i am getting a new motor to put into a 93 NX2000 to replace the stock SR20de engine. i can get a SR20ve engine complete with wiring and ecu and all acc for $1000. it makes 190hp and i know i will have to do some wiring mods and add a switching box for the cams. i can also get a top intercooler sr20det out of a bluebird, makes 205hp. it also comes with the wiring and ecu but no maf. also $1000 just wondering what engine would be best to put in there for mostly to town and back driving. i know the ve makes good power but mostly at full throttle when it switches cam profiles. imagine the det makes good power from about 3000rpm up. just not sure what one is best for driveability and what fuel requirements are, i know the gtir sr20dtet requires premium, not sure what these engines need. both will require mods to fit but i should be able to do it. any opinions appreciated

Ve shouldnt run that much even. Get it from jdm engine zone, they sell some of the best, mine was 850 shipped to the west coast from the easy. They sell their engines for 650, but if u call u can get ve's for around 550. You use your starter and alternator, and get a nistune or tunable ecu wire the solenoids and thats it. This sr20ve u say for 1000 bucks, is it from someone on the forum, or online. Because if its online complete with "wiring" which you wont use, and "ecu" thats for the automatic because the sr20ve didnt come with manual tranny. The ve would be the easiest to install, i love my ve with n1 cams and i driver her daily, i had a turbo b13 and it lost its appeal to me very fast for daily driving. And the ve makes good power even at lower throttle, makes way more than my de did, specially with the n1 cams now installed and i find na way more fun. Ve requires premium as well. But the ve is pretty much this. It shows up. U pull ur motor. Put all ur stuff on it, drop it in, hook it up, getthe 5 dollar hose adapter hooked up, then wire the vvl solenoids, and ur good to go half the time even on a stock ecu it can run ok. Then get a tunable ecu and it will run very very good. I ran on a stock ecu for 4 months with no problems. But if you are looking online, and not a person on this forum selling the motor with a tuned ecu and stuff, then its a rip off because we cant use the ecu in our cars and the wiring harness all u want is the solenoid connectors, which came on mine when shipped from jdm engine zone.

Nice thing about going ve over turbo, is in the long run less problems if you run into issues. I had boost leaks with my b13, got tired of cops looking at me and my intercooler. You just need to research otherwise you will get ripped off, i had the same questions. You will end up getting a bunch of shit you dont need with the motor. All you need is the engine.

This is all you need, and no ones complained about a bad motor from here that ive seen yet. Everyone seems to get clean motors from them. JDM Engine Zone - 98 Nissan SR20VE VVL

All you need on top of that is window switch for vvl, idk about nx's but sentra's/200sx ser's can run off their stock ecu, just run a lil rich but you dont want to do it permanetly, and thats it if you want to leave it there with stock maf and intake. And a 5 dollar hose adapter because the heater hose if i remember is a bit bigger. All stuff i learned when my buddy did my swap and stuff i had to research before. Not worth it paying more to get the auto ecu (useless) the wire harness (useless unless you go through more hell than you need to) and auto tranny (really useless)

with shipping its 1150 from canada on e-bay. im on the west cost so shipping is a bit more. it comes with engine and tranny and stuff like alt and starter and mas etc. wires past ecu are not cut so t also might be almost a plug and play, usually they chop the wires past the ecu. not sure if the transmission is worth anything other than scrap but alt least i get the starter and a few other parts not usually included. this one is a auto but i did see a sr20ve nose listed that had a 6 speed manual tranmission. jdm engine zone wants $700+350 shipping delivered but does not came with a mas or starter ecu or wiring or tranny etc

also there is a wiring adapter that allows you to plug the sr20ve harness into your sr20de ecu

i take it back, the harness adapter is to plug a sr20de harness into a sr20ve ecu to allow it to run on the sr20ve programming

i do appreciate the input and sounds like sr20ve is the way to go. i had a red top non turbo in the last sentra se-r i built and with the extra 15-20hp it was a lot more fun than the stock sr20de.
