should look like this minus the colors links since they only line up every 100 revolutions.

make absolutely sure you are at tdc. I usually put a big screwdriver in #1 cylinder. If there's some strecth in the chain on a high mile motor it can be a bit tough to eyeball. Ask me how I know.

I rotated it all the way around and it's balls on.....I assume the Dizzy is the next place to check?

changed dizzy, start car up, running like garbage with a CEL, the car has no ignition switch just toggles for fuel pump and push button ignition, how can I check the CEL? fwiw when i checked the timing after replacing the dizzy it was at 30*'s i could get it back to 15ish by cranking it all the way to the front.....still sounds like mechanical timing to me

are you running a stock pulley? How did you get the car into timing mode?.

not a stock pulley, we marked TDC on the aftermarket pulley, I get it into timing mode by revving it up 3x and pulling the TPS sensor.

well, the problem is solved.....and you wont believe it

I had been wrecked the last race....apparently i was hit hard enough to knock the daughter board loose off the pins.....went to check the ECU and heard a rattle, sure enough....
