strong gas smell in oil...!!!
So I swapped in a ve into my 91 se-r... before the swap it ran rich from what I could smell atleast it was strong. I am running a cheapo header and the o2 sensor is only picking up exhaust gasses from 1 maybe 2 cylinders because of its placement. Now I havnt picked up a tuned ecu for the ve so im still running stock de ecu and oem crap intake tube and maf sensor. So with it already running rich before the swap in addition to de ecu and ve injectors could that most likely be my problem? I've been on this oil since I did the swap which was last Monday, so a week. What you guys think? Oh and when its cold it has crappy slow take off and breaks up unless I go past quarter throttle. so... did the same with the de, maybe not as bad but close. Any thoughts on this are appreciated, thanks.

your running a ecu programmed for 259cc injectors and your running 333cc injectors.

Yeah yeah I know I know, im just concerned cus my luck hasn't been to great lately with this car... plus I read somewhere a couple guys were driving around on a stock ecu with a ve for a year plus which made me think, how have they not spun a bearing or something..

My buddy can't get me the compression tester till tomorrow.. im reading 210 to 225 is decent/average for a ve. Is that accurate?

that sounds about right. stock compression is 240psi. I would change the oil asap and either put the stock de injectors in or get a tuned ecu.

Yes but you should be more worried about the variance in the numbers.. like: 200 210 150 190 is bad.

Plus I don't know about a SER ecu but on my G20 ecu my VE runs excellent. Mine runs smoother than other VE swaps I have seen with tuned ecus. Like I said I'm not sure if its cuz I have a G ecu and not an SER but I'm not into the DE ecu is bad hype. My car runs amazing.
