aftermarket cams question...please read and reply asap....
I am thinking about getting a set of s4 cams or BC cams but it is from a RWD sr20. I know the dowel pin is different, can I just take out the dowel pin on the intake cam and install my dowel pin from my stock cams??

Please reply if that is possible or not. Don't want to waste money to buy the cams and I can't change the dowel pin.

thanks in advance!!!

I would imagine so. The dowel was just longer on the RWD right?

The S4 and BC2 cams can be used in a RWD.

always take the s4 over the bc. they are more money but they dont lose power anywhere and make really good top end with a decent t28 or larger turbo. the bc2 are second to the s4 based on cost, performance, and availability.

If its from a s13 sr20 then there is no need to change the dowel pin you can direct swap them I believe. But I would def go with the s4 cams.

Aren't the exhaust cams completely different on the non-sprocket side for mating to two different types of CAS assemblies? Or can they be made to work?

no they are the same, both rwd cams and fwd cams have the notch on the rear of the exhaust cam. Obviously the exhaust cam drives the cas on the rwd using the sprocket on the front w/ a gear which is why it also has a longer dowel pin to accomidate.

Yes you can swap them out with the one from your stock one. You need to swap it out as well or it will be sticking out past the sprocket and your cam sprocket bolt will not seat all the way because the washer will hit the dowel. Swap em out and be done.

A few guys have posted about doing this with no problems on the other forum. So as stated by others. Yes you can.
