Gear stack compatibility question
My 2nd gear has gone bad in my b14 LSD transmission. I have a p10 non LSD transmision laying around for parts. I was wondering if I could put the p10 non LSD gearstack into the b14 LSD case and use the b14 LSD diff. Thanks

Yes, you can.

I was told by my local nissan mechanic that I would have to switch the 5th gear from the LSD stack and put it on the nonLSD stack. Is that true?

You need to keep the mainshaft the same as the b14. The final drive is different. You basically need a 4.176 gearstack to work with it without taking the gears off the stack.

Just take the gears you need of the p10 stack and put them on your B14 stack.

There is some missinformation in this thread.

91-93 G20 all Non LSD 4.083 FD ( have to change pinion shaft so you must press gears off )

94-96 G20s all 4.176 LSD and Non LSD ( direct switch for B14 )

With that info you guys can go from there

yep, look at the gearstack worksheet in the how to section. It will give you all of the gearstacks that have the same final drive. Any of those can be swapped into each other. If you want to use the 4.0 final then you would like Miko said have to replace all the components on the stack of the mainshaft. Imput shafts and gears can swap straight over but you would have to have the gears switched over to the old mainshaft. Simple as that.
