I was going to purchase AeroCatch locking latches for my newly acquired CF hood.

However, Happynole gave the AeroCatch product a complete negative review. I trust Joe's judgement implicitely, so AeroCatch is out.

It appears that Jegs carries two (2) options that are more expensive than the AeroCatch latches, and a whole bunch of inexpensive options. The inexpensive options are just what you expect and really do not merit much discussion. They are what they are, but not really what I am looking for.

$185.00 per set for the Hotchkis units. Which, outside of the fancy billet top peice, look pretty much like the inexpensive hood pins. Not sure why they are so expensive.

NRG locking hood pins

RoBear Racing. NRG Carbon Fiber Hood Pins: Universal

$118.00 for a set of the NRG units that look pretty much like the AeroCatch latches, which worries me. $38.00 for the less expensive NRG units. Both in that link.

Anybody got any input, advice, or expertise on hood pins?

I would probably choose any of those but the AeroCatch. They're really big.

However, like I said, Joe (Happynole) is not happy with AeroCatch units at all. Which really makes me want to shy away from AeroCatch.

And what exactly is wrong with Aerocatch? Unless you get a knockoff I don't see any downside.

I will probably end up going with the aerocatches(I want them to be locking)...but check these out.
The only problem is mounting it to the CF.It is designed for metal hoods.
I was trying to find a way to make something like that work.It would need to have a black backplate to sandwich the CF or something.

Everyone I know has Aerocatch pins, they seem pretty good. But spending $300 on a set of hood pins is just rediculous.

I mean, how much could the materials possibly cost? $150 is the most I could justify on hood pins. Not because I'm cheap, but simply because something that simple just doesn't cost much to make. A calculator is more complicated, and I can get one at the dollar store.
