Blown HG...now what..??
So I just got the motor in my 91 se-r last week, it is a jdm 9.5:1 comp and yesterday I noticed when I started my car to leave dunkin I smoked out the parking lot with white smoke and it is getting progressively worse.

So I was debating on getting a det, or maybe ve... or just fixing the hg on this motor. I plan on going turbo at some point so if I was to pull the head I'd get it resurfaced and should I use a thicker head gasket to drop comp a lil bit? but what type, brand, or thickness hg should I go with and where can I find it? Thanks for any guidance fellas.

Or does anyone have a high port de, det, or ve for sale in ct??

VE this car for a daily and turbo a second car as a toy. Best option in my opinion.

Yeah, that sounds good and all but the wifey is sick of all my crap so I gotta consolidate and stick with one car and I need to pick up a truck by winter. Ve+t sounds good tho

Sooo, Saturday axion4888 and I took a lil trip out to nj, jdm engine zone and picked up a couple ve motors. So yesterday I spent about 5 hrs on the swap then about 10 more hrs today and got it done(this was all done by myself) so with the help of the forums stickies and how to's I was able to drive it home today and seems to be runnning decent without a tune which is next.

Called Honda experience...for some reason the Honda guys in TX do things rather quickly, or quicker than Nissan guys.

No, its not that, its the fact that usually its their only means of getting around, and therefore need it to be done ASAP, instead of mooching rides off their friends nice new cars to run their errands. For some reason RWD SR20 guys have this idea in their head that an SR swap is supposed to take maybe a month to get 100% right. A lot of factors take in to account, mostly getting all the parts that you need with a boosted car.

Thats my kind of motivated car work right there. LOL I get that alot that i always get my car back up when stuff breaks faster than anyone else. But your right being it was my daily driver for the first 4 years i owned it. So i didnt have a lot of time to waste to get it back up and running. When i was cracking ring lands with the T25 I had a new motor here by friday and would be back up and running saturday. I could pull the old, drill and tap the new, swap everything over, and back in the car and tuned within 24 hours. haha

Its easy when you have the motivation to do it. Most people on here are not really that motivated to work on their cars and it shows.
